I will be teaching at the University of Houston.
May-June 2009
I will be teaching a course called Poetic Technique in Florence during the six-week summer session (May-June 2009). This is an introductory class that will include craft lectures, writing workshops, and outings in Florence to markets, secret frescoes, cafes, sandwich shops, and many other esoteric opportunities that can be used to make poems. David Kirby will be teaching a travel writing course at the same time.
Both classes are offered through Florida State University’s International Programs. The FSU Study Center is located in a beautiful Renaissance palazzo in the center of Florence. All students live in apartments, and trips to Venice, Siena, and Rome are included with tuition. Adults and students from other universities are welcome to enroll. Courses in Renaissance art history and Italian language and culture are also offered.
